Carl Krone's vision

The Bavarian circus entrepreneur Carl Krone (1870–1943) decided in 1919 to build a permanent circus building in Munich as winter quarters for his travelling circus — the first of its kind in the world. Location: Marsstraße 43, on the western edge of Maxvorstadt. Destroyed in the bombing war, reopened in 1962 by Christel Sembach-Krone in a modern, circular form with 3,000 seats.

In the winter season (December–March) home to Circus Krone — three programmes a season, six weeks each. The rest of the year the building serves as a concert arena: legendary performances by, among others, the Beatles in 1966, Jimi Hendrix in 1967, the Rolling Stones, Marlene Dietrich, Queen and Bob Dylan.
